We are pleased to present our Sustainability Report 2024, which celebrates our 166-year history, rich in challenges overcome thanks to an increasingly open and contemporary vision, faithful to our essence and looking to 2030.

For two years, we have integrated the goals of the ONU 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into our Sustainability Report. One of the goals we are focusing on is “Ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.” We have guaranteed free water for all employees by installing dispensers at workplaces and distributed personalized aluminum water bottles to reduce the use of plastic in everyday life. To this end, we have adopted biobased plastic “bidule” (small plastic cylinders used for capping during the second fermentation of the Metodo Classico) and, thanks to the use of Nomacorc Blue Line Vinventions closures, we have contributed to the collection of 1,069 kg of plastic, the equivalent of removing over 35,000 1.5-liter plastic bottles from the environment.
We have resolutely continued our journey toward a lighter future, not only in terms of weight but also in terms of impact. Reducing the raw materials used in bottling has become a daily, concrete, and conscious practice, taking shape through increasingly sustainable choices. Over 30% of the bottles produced in 2024 were made from lightweight glass, reducing energy consumption and emissions related to transportation. The glass used for the majority of the bottles used in 2024 is composed of 89.8% recycled material, sourced from external cullet, color AG, supplied by Verallia Italia, confirming an increasingly circular approach.
Among the most significant initiatives is undoubtedly the promotion of physical, psychological, and social-relational well-being. We have, in fact, introduced a company psychology desk offering free psychological counseling services to all employees.
This journey has been enriched with “Bosco Vigna,” with which we promoted the initiative of Casa E. di Mirafiore, which planted over 170 forest and fruit trees among the vineyards to promote biodiversity in the Langhe, alongside the centuries-old trees of the Bosco dei Pensieri. This 12-hectare plot of land preserves one of the last remaining forests in the Langhe and continues to represent a tangible symbol of Fontanafredda’s commitment to biodiversity and landscape regeneration.
2024 concluded with the achievement of JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard) organic certification, making us one of the first Italian wineries to achieve this important recognition.
Our commitment has been recognized with the Impact Marketing award, which has placed us among the Italian companies with a positive impact on the community and the environment.
