Oasis, the prestigious magazine that has been promoting naturalistic culture in Italy for over 35 years, has awarded the environmental “Oscar” to Italian companies that have distinguished themselves for an innovative contribution in terms of environmental sustainability and social responsibility in their business practices.
The editorial director of Oasis, journalist and television host Alessandro Cecchi Paone, awarded the 2017 Oasis Environment Award to a series of important initiatives and projects, in six different categories linked to environmental sustainability parameters: Recycling & Waste Assessments, Water Cycle Assessment , Carbon Footprint, Smart City, Educational & Communication as well as a special prize, in collaboration with the WISE association, dedicated to water treatment in the agro-food industry.
Fontanafredda has received the WISE Special Prize “… for a strategic vision in which sustainability is an integral part of the corporate culture and is aimed at the protection and improvement of the environmental and landscape heritage“. In fact, since 2010, thanks to the contribution of Amethyst, an Alba-based company that is rapidly growing in the green economy industry, Fontanafredda now has a phytodepuration plant and reuses its own wastewater for the irrigation of the company’s green areas and in the evaporative cooling towers of the refrigerating systems, thus reducing water consumption by over 20%.
The award has the patronage of the Ministry of the Environment and that of Ecomondo, the international green economy trade show, and is organized in collaboration with the WISE association and the 24 Ore Group.
